Code Is Free—Architecture and Security Are Now the Bottleneck

Google DeepMind’s VP of Research declares syntax-level code generation is solved, making code production effectively free. The bottleneck shifts to specification, architecture, and security. He predicts that within a year, AI-generated code won’t be manually reviewed, much like compiled assembly. Self-play training will drive models forward, but security becomes a never-ending arms race unless models are taught to write provably correct code.
